Get into the Halloween Spirt with Theatreworks’ Production of “Dracula”

By Ron Friedenthal

It’s time to get into the Halloween spirit with the Theatreworks Silicon Valley’s production of “Dracula”, currently performing at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (500 Castro Street)  through November 1, 2026.

Adapted by Steven Dietz from Bram Stoker’s vampire novel of the same name, this gothic thriller. Brings the seduction and suspense of one of literature’s most undead to the stage in a high-octane theatrical ride with terrifying illusions and lots of frights!

“Dracula” stars Scott Cooperwood as the famous vampire, and others in this strong cast include Adrian Robers (vampire slayer Van Helsing), Maria Marquis (Mina), Nima Rakhshanifar (Jonathan Harker), Emily Newsome (Lucy, Mina’s friend as well as a vixen devoted to Dracula), Vincent Randazzo (Seward, Lucy’s suitor who oversees the asylum), Max Tachis (madman Renfield), and Monique Hafen Adams (a maid, a nurse, and a vixen).

The special effects are incredible and really enhance the experience. Add a dose of blood and gore and the production keeps the audience quite engaged.

Artistic Director Giovanna Sardelli spent a year as a magician’s assistant in Las Vegas, and, consequently, there are ample opportunities to use this craft throughout the show. He, along with myself, are confident the audiences will be excited and frightened enough to stay in the theater and have a really good time, especially with the coinciding Halloween season upon us.
