TheatreWorks Silicon Valley Presents 2024 Pulitzer Prize-Winning Play “Primary Trust”

Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner Primary Trust receives its Regional Premiere at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. In Eboni Booth's powerful play, 38-year-old bookstore worker Kenneth enjoys nightly chats over happy hour Mai Tais at the local tiki bar with his best friend Bert. When his smalltown life is upended, Kenneth finds a path toward new beginnings in this story brimming with surprise and, ultimately, hope. Helmed by TheatreWorks Associate Producer of Casting & Literary Management Jeffrey Lo, the cast includes Bay Area favorites William Thomas Hodgson, Kenny Scott, Dan Hiatt, and Rolanda D. Bell, with Jonathan Erman as the onstage musician. Primary Trust will perform March 4-29, 2026 at Lucie Stern Theatre (1305 Middlefield Road), Palo Alto, CA.

Director Jeffrey Lo has assembled a talented cast to bring these beloved characters to life. William Thomas Hodgson returns to TheatreWorks as Kenneth while Kenny Scott returns to TheatreWorks as Bert, Kenneth’s best friend. Dan Hiatt also returns to TheatreWorks, playing the part of Kenneth’s boss Clay as well as other roles.

Jonathan Erman, who is a composer, conductor, and pianist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, plays an onstage musician, while Rolanda D. Bell makes her TheatreWorks debut as waitress Corinna and others.

Primary Trust features scenic design by Christopher Fitzer, costume design by Becky Bodurtha, lighting design by Steven B. Mannshardt, and sound design by Gregory Robinson. Laura Hicks Perreault is stage manager.
